Winter Break

Have a wonderful winter break. Students return on January 6th, which is a Tuesday. All library books checked out before break will be due on the 6th. We will kick off our book of the month program as soon as we come back. If you want to get a headstart over the break, the book for January is Al Capone Does My Shirts by Gennifer Choldenko. Happy Holidays!

Battle of the Books

North Arvada is going to host its first Battle of the Books! Teams of 3-4 students will compete against other student teams from North Arvada and Arvada Middle School. Teams will answer questions based on the books on the Battle of the Book list. The list is available at the NAMS library. Grab a few friends to form your team and come to the library to sign up and get your book list. The Battle will happen in mid to late May. The winning team will earn a trophy and bragging rights for the year and everyone involved will have tons of fun. Join us in battle!

Book of the Month

The North Arvada community is going to start a book-of-the-month program in January. We will get out word at the very beginning of the month what the book is. Our library will have multiple copies and we'll warn the Standley Lake and Olde Town Arvada libraries so they'll be prepared with lots of copies as well. Students, staff, and parents will all read the same book during the month and be able to talk with others in the community about what they are reading. At the end of the month we'll have a 'doughnuts and discussion' to wrap up that month's book and reveal the next one. Please join us in reading and discussing some great young adult books!

Barnes and Noble

Our 2nd annual Barnes and Noble night was a success! We had 16 teachers attend and too many students to count. Our chamber orchestra and Sounds of the Knights choir were fabulous. People in the store who weren't associated with North Arvada commented on how great our music programs are! We even had some brave souls sing solos and duets. The school still gets profits if you buy books through this weekend and mention North Arvada - so keep shopping! Some students will be there Sunday afternoon from 3-7 doing gift wrapping to raise money for a summer trip. Come out and support us!
